It’s been an interesting and challenging few months, and I’ve tried to harness that energy and put it into a new approach for some more detailed and time-intensive pieces. The first of those is Stranded, a new sci-fi inspired print now available in the store.
This piece came to me in a daydream, as most do. I imagined an entire back-story of a stranded cosmonaut on an alien world inhabited only by plant life, unable to eat the alien flora surrounding him without dying in the process. Left to his fate he simply waits, like the Buddhist Mummies, for death to claim him.
Available as an 11 x 17 print in the SoulStore.
A visual breakdown of the past year’s work. I had too many pieces to show them all, and far too many design/corporate clients to include any of those, so these are my personal and favorite works and commission from the past year.
Here’s to even more in 2013.
Seven Seasons, one of my first short stories, is now available for free on the Emanata Comic App. Hit the App Store and check it out!

Love him or hate him, I thought the President shedding a few tears while congratulating his volunteer supporters was a very moving, human moment. I wanted to capture that moment of empathy, exhaustion and emotion. Enjoy.
If you’re interested in picking up a print they’re now available in my Big Cartel store.
The last two copies of my 2011 sketchbook are spoken for, personalized and out the door to their new homes! Below are the final two sketches I’ll be sending out in these bad boys. I think it may be time to start thinking about a 2012 sketchbook.
Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen, you all rock!
Thanks to a solid marketing campaign and the accumulation of guest after guest I decided, at the last minute, to get a table for this year’s Fan Days at the Irving Convention Center.
The Dallas Comic Con has always treated me well but my first Fan Days experience was pretty lackluster. That looks to be a different story this year with the new location, massive amounts of guests and overall evolution of the show thanks to Mark Walters and Ben Stevens.
I’ll be on the 4th floor in Artist Alley, Table F4-36 with copies of Senryu, Two-Off, prints and original art and sketches for sale, including a limited amount of the piece below that was created specifically for this convention (and heavily inspired by a strange dream I had along with plenty of Moebius’ art).
Dallas Comic Con Fan Days runs October 19th-21st, come out and get your geek on.
I’ve always loved the Aliens universe ever since I first saw the James Cameron blockbuster at 6. It was literally the last movie that scared me in any meaningful way. I had such an overwhelming reaction to the movie that my parents hunted down information on the making of it to quell my fears. I think that’s what first made me fall in love with storytelling and art; having something affect me so deeply only to find out it wasn’t real. It was all illusion.
Years later I would see Ridley Scott’s Alien and everything would change again. I’d learn about claustrophobic fear, true alien horror and how to frighten the hell out of people without showing much at all. Fast forward 26 years and I’m still fascinated by the xenomorphs and the dark, shadow place they occupy in our subconscious. This is my love letter to the Aliens universe, H.R. Giger, Ridley Scott , James Cameron and Ellen Ripley. When all else fails, nuke it from orbit.
