Holiday Commissions

November 14th, 2009

dr_manhattanSo the comic project that was scheduled to start in 2010 has officially fallen through, and with spare time and bills a-plenty pilling up I’m going to open up spots for Holiday commissions.

Commissions can be of any character; comic book heroes/villians, movie or literary figures, portraits of your loved one or even original artmade by me left to my own devices. ;)

I’ll be taking payment through PayPal, and will gurantee a pre-Christmas delivery for all requests I receive before December 9th. Base price for pieces will be $10 for b&w and $20 for color.

I’ll accomodate digital delivery as well as snail mail orders for folks who want original art. If you want to be really picky and/or make a complicated request email me at soulcoredotnet (a) gmail.com to talk specifics.

$10 bucks gets you an inked sketch of any character delivered by email.
$20 bucks gets you a full color sketch delivered by email.
$30 bucks gets you an inked sketched delivered snail mail style.
$40 gets you a color print delivered snail mail style.
$10 per each additional character.

Order with the handy Paypal Dropdown below!

2009 Holiday Sketches

The World As You Know It

October 14th, 2009

What does 6 months of hard, artistic work look like? I?d imagine something like this.

comp_small

Above is the completed 100 pages for my first ever original graphic novel. I still can?t show the lettered pages or give away the plot but it was a blast to work on and I learned a lot. I feel like I finally have a grasp on my own personal style and can do it at a consistent pace.

I finished up the pages somewhat early thanks to a week-long productive streak, and will begin a new book for the same company in November.

In the meantime I?m finishing up colors on a 4 page pitch project that, once again, I can?t show or talk much about thanks to an NDA. Look for that next October.

It?s a been a busy few weeks and I?ll be posting some more about our Studio side-project Indy Comic Book Week tomorrow, as well as my contributions to it, Senryu & One Night Stand.

TWAYKI: 13-16

June 22nd, 2009

Batch number four of the TWAYKI pages.

I’m currently penciling/inking pages 29-30 and looking back on these pages from a few weeks ago they seem a little stiff to me now, but I can already tell a marked improvement in my speed and quality. Hopefully I’ll keep better AND faster as the project progresses.

The Day Job

December 12th, 2008

I’ve been pretty sick the last week with the weather change here and as such have only really been working on the day job stuff and thought I would post some of it.

So here are 9 background/environment illustrations that will eventually be used in online comics and animations for one of my employers properties.

Marvel Masterpiece III Sketchcards

August 27th, 2008

I just got word from Marvel that all 50 of my cards were approved!

So without further ado, here they are!

I really enjoyed the puzzles/triptychs I found while researching past card sets, so I did a lot of connected cards, but tried to keep them all interesting so even if you only have one of the cards you still feel like you got something of value.

Thanks to Mark at Upper Deck for the opportunity and Marvel for the characters and inspiring my love of comics early on!

Holy Wolf-Man Wednesday, Batman!

July 2nd, 2008

So back at the CAPE convention I had the honor of meeting with and talking to Robert Kirkman, writer and comic creator extraordinaire. He’s behind The Walking Dead, invincible and the Astounding Wolf-Man.

So after chatting him up like all the fanboys do me and my boy Evan slipped him some artwork and our cards, and he told us to email him. A few days later he asked us if we would like to contribute pin-ups for his Wolf-Man book, and we both jumped at the chance.

So the Astounding Wolf-Man 7 came out today, with our pinups inside!

There’s mine (I almost pooped my pants in the store!)

And Evan’s..

And there’s the awesome plug he hooked us up with!

It marks the first thing I’ve had published by a “major” publisher, not to mention it’s IMAGE COMICS, the brand I grew up reading and emulating. Hopefully it’s only one of the many opportunities to come.

So go to your local funnybook store and grab a copy of Astounding Wolf-Man 7! Like, Now! Cuz I’m totally gonna’ be famous someday! =P

And for my next project:: Marvel Masterpiece III Sketchcards.

Can you say “w00t”?

Freelancing the day away

September 10th, 2007

I seem to have fallen into a nice little ritual these first two months of working for myself. I usually get up around 8 and stumble to my computer and begin the day with my morning ritual of news, music art and random YouTube videos.

I’m usually working by 10:15 or so, and if I have needy clients they usually call about this time. I usually take a lunch and work at my computer, catching up on blogs and political message boards, then dive back into after I’m finished grubbing.

I work a few more hours and at about 3:45 every day I get really restless. I take advantage of this time to shower and shave, feed the cat, take out the trash, etc. I usually curse my lack of groceries or snack food at this point as well. If errands need be ran or checks need be deposited this is the last chance before Dallas’ insane rush hour traffic hits the freeways.

Once that adventure comes to an end it’s back to work, usually doing some sort of freelance web design, or if I’m really lucky, a bit of the ole drawrin’ even.

I wrap it up about 6 and retire to do other, important, non-computer related things. Dinner comes up quick then it’s a BBC documentary or the newest Netflix delivery. I’m a nerd, I know.

I usually end up coming back to the desk to either work on comic stuff or my own illustrations, I can’t ever seem to really shut the creative drive off, you simply sate it for a bit.

See, I can’t even come up with a nice succinct wrap-up for this blog post, because well, duty calls and I’d rather be creating!

Ciao!

By the way if anyone here is in advertising or marketing… kill yourself.

No, no, no it’s just a little thought. I’m just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day, they’ll take root – I don’t know. You try, you do what you can. Kill yourself.

Seriously though, if you are, do.
